Default Should the DS have a store?

The PSP has the PS Store. The iPod Touch has the App Store. Should the DS have something?

Hmm..they might already? (I don't have a DS though). If they don't, I'd be fine if it was just free stuff they offered The App Store is already jacking up prices, and I just stick with free stuff.

Although the original DS and DS Lite are unable without devices like the R4 DS (Which Nintendo is completely against), Nintendo pulled their head out of their rear ends for the DSi.

The DSi does, in fact have its own store. The software is called DSiWare.

For the most part though, the store is full of shovelware, puzzle games and stupid things like skins for the clock. Most everyone was hoping for something like the Wii's Virtual Console, but so far Nintendo has not released any past games from their previous handheld consoles.

It was quite a half-hearted attempt when you compare it to the Apps Store and Playstation Network Store.

Yeah, Nintendo isn't the best when it comes to stores or things like that.

When it comes down to it, I think that unless the DS would have more added functionality (media player; etc), a store would be a waste of money (and time).

A lot of people say that right now the DS Store is just filled with crapware. But, then again, so are the games. :/

It all comes down to how Nintendo would handle the running of the store - they could fill it with crap or jacked up prices, or have a range of free software and then some paid software as well - it all depends on what they do with it.

It's a nice idea, but the only store that's really be successful is Apple's App Store. I doubt Nintendo could do better.
